    • Last year, the sun-walking Australian dance-pop duo Empire Of The Sun — the guys who are always running for the thrill of it, thrill of it — returned with Ask That God, their first new album in eight years. Today, they’ve released a deluxe edition of Ask That God with two new bonus tracks, and one of those tracks is an unlikely team-up with Fleetwood Mac legend Lindsey Buckingham.
  • FKA twigs Releases Stirring New Album 'EUSEXUA': Stream | Stereogum | Jan. 24, 2025, 5 a.m.
    • We’ve been hearing little bits and bobs of news about FKA twigs’ new techno-inspired album for a very, very long time, and that album is finally here now. FKA twigs’ new LP EUSEXUA is officially her first album in six years, since MAGDALENE came out way the hell back in 2019, though she did drop the CAPRISONGS mixtape in 2022. For the most part, EUSEXUA is exactly what she promised: a record of heady and clubby tracks about deep connection and messy relationships.
  • Ethel Cain Shares New 55-Minute Piece On NTS, 'Perverts' Demos On SoundCloud | Stereogum | Jan. 25, 2025, 3:28 p.m.
    • 2025 is shaping up to be the year of Ethel Cain. The alt-pop recluse dropped Perverts earlier this month, a terrific piece of music that’s labeled as an EP despite its 90-minute length. She made her TV debut when Fox News complained about her Instagram post calling for the killing of more CEOs following Luigi Mangione’s alleged assassination of Brian Thompson, and she doubled down in response. Now, she’s already back with a 55-minute piece on NTS.

  • Franz Ferdinand Cover “Bigmouth Strikes Again” With Johnny Marr: Watch | Stereogum | Jan. 19, 2025, 7:05 p.m.
    • Franz Ferdinand just put out their new album The Human Fear, and to celebrate, they played a set for Amazon Music UK’s Sounds In The City Sessions. It was a true melding of UK indie rock greats, as the Scottish band brought out ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr for a rendition of a song he helped make famous, “Bigmouth Strikes Again.”
  • Lil Baby Play 'Fallon' & New York Pop-Up Show, Disses Gunna On 'WHAM' Deluxe Edition | Stereogum | Jan. 8, 2025, 1:51 p.m.
    • On Friday, Atlanta rap star Lil Baby returned with his new album WHAM, which had a bunch of big-name guests and which basically kicked off the rap year. Baby only announced WHAM shortly before its release, so it didn’t get a big, noisy rollout. Instead, Baby is giving that album its rollout now. In the past day, he’s played The Tonight Show and a free pop-up New York show, and he’s also dropped a music video and a deluxe edition with bonus rap-beef content.
  • U2's 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb' Is 20 Today: Stream Previously Unreleased Outtakes On New "Shadow Album" | Stereogum | Nov. 22, 2024, 2:28 p.m.
    • We didn’t write or commission a 20th-anniversary piece about U2’s How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Sorry. Sometimes, there’s just not that much to say. Today marks the 20th anniversary of U2’s 11th studio album. When they released that record, U2 were nearly a quarter-century removed from their debut album Boy. U2 did an amazing job remaining relevant for a very long time, and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb kept their streak going commercially, at least. That album sold a lot of copies. Plenty of people were into it. But is it really worth doing a deep-dive on that one? For us, it’s not.

Now, the full 46-track comp is finally out.
